We need unifying voices

I’m pleased to share with you that I’ve received another great endorsement this week! (see below)

At a time when we have a lot of division in our society, it is more important than ever to elect individuals who will be a unifying force in our government. As a leader, I have always worked hard to ensure that all voices are heard and and respected, and I look forward to continuing this work as the Mayor of Oceanside.

I am honored to have the support of Encinitas’ Mayor Catherine Blakespear, and am humbly asking you to place the same trust in me on election day.

Catherine S. Blakespear, Mayor of Encinitas, CA. and Vice-Chair of SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments) Board of Directors, is announcing today her endorsement of Ruben K. Major for Mayor of Oceanside, CA.

Blakespear is a fourth-generation resident of Encinitas and former member of Encinitas City Council. She earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from Northwestern University and a law degree from University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. Blakespear co-founded and maintains a law practice focusing on estate-planning, probates, wills and trust administration. She is passionate about “American democracy and all elements of the governmental structure that support equality, liberty, freedom and the happiness that Americans enjoy.” She said, “Ruben Major is a strong, unifying leader for the diverse and dynamic community of Oceanside.”

Major, who owns the largest emergency medical services recertification training program worldwide, is an EMT/Paramedic and holds his Master’s degree in History and a law degree. He is a husband, father of 3 children attending local public schools in Oceanside, and is a former candidate for California Secretary of State in 2018. Major said, “I am truly honored to have the endorsement of a California community leader who cares so much about the people. Her leadership on homelessness as well as her commitment to turning Encinitas “green” are just two of the many things I admire about Mayor Blakespear. It is critical that we elect people who can work well with representatives across all levels of government, and I’m confident that our two cities will be able to work together to form an even stronger bond when I am elected Mayor of Oceanside.”

Major is running for Mayor in order to improve the city’s response to the homeless crisis, rein in the development “sprawl,” and ensure that Oceanside is a place where everyone can prosper. He is focused on common-sense solutions that prioritize public safety, smart planning, and preserving the voice of the people. His people-powered, grassroots campaign has been engaging with members of the community in “neighborhood pop-ups” and on a listening tour at major public events in recent months.

The election for Mayor of Oceanside will be held on November 3, 2020.

If you believe that everyone who lives in Oceanside deserves an opportunity to prosper, please consider contributing what you can to support this campaign and let’s make sure you have someone fighting for you on the issues that matter.
